STATEMENT BY REPRESENTATIVE-ELECT MIHAELA PLESA

Collin County, the election results are in and you have made your voice heard! I am honored that you have placed your trust in me as your next state representative. The weight of this responsibility is not lost on me.

I want to thank my family, team, volunteers, donors, supporters, and most of all, you — the voters. Thank you for allowing me to earn your vote and supporting our unifying message of fixing the grid, funding schools, trusting women, and keeping kids safe. Whether you voted for me or my opponent is irrelevant after tonight. I will zealously advocate for each person in every corner of HD 70.

The road has been long, but you have stuck in there. Many of you have supported our campaign from day one. I want to thank all the volunteers, precinct chairs, organizations, and supporters who block walked and phone banked, deliver signs, organize rides, host events, and so much more.

Every time I asked you to knock on one more door or talk to one more voter, you gladly went above and beyond. That’s why we have made it across the finish line tonight.

Collin County has had enough of division, the hate, and the attacks coming from Austin. Tonight, I’m grateful that the voters chose a unifying message focused on addressing real issues facing real people.

The road has been long but it has been time for Collin County to have a new voice, and independent voice in Austin. Not a party line vote for Trump.

We may have been outspent, time and time again, but we were never, ever, outworked — not once. This was the most competitive race in Texas and because of you we have prevailed.

Tonight, we’ve proved, once again, that this seat can’t be bought — it must be earned.

Now, the real work begins. While we made headways in Collin County, the work remains to be done across the state. I look forward to fighting for you in Austin — public education, public safety, and property tax relief. Thank you for trusting me with the honor of a lifetime. My promise to you is that I will bring more accessibility and accountability to this office. I look forward to setting our office up and keeping you informed on how to contact us and be active in state government.

MEET MIHAELA PLESA

Meet Mihaela

"I’m Mihaela Plesa and I’m running on a platform of people over power and policy over party. I stand by my successes as a legislative director in Austin. The past five and a half years, working for members of the minority party, I’ve worked on dozens of bills that were signed into law.

Bills that have helped families like yours, including Prop 8 the constitutional amendment to help Gold Star families that Texas voters overwhelmingly approved last November, Medicaid expansion for San Antonio, and improved care of foster children.
The #1 priority of our state should be to keep the lights on. Our leaders have failed us in that capacity and foundational freedoms are under threat from far-right extremists who want to control women's lives and bodies. I will fight like hell for access to healthcare in our state. I’m running for the Texas House to be effective on day one and to restore faith and integrity in our state government.
